All organizations have them: systems for collecting and presenting data. Some of these may be small, basic systems, whereas others are massive data collection systems. With technology advances, often these systems are interconnected, meaning data is shared across the various departments. With the investment you have made in all of these different types of systems, a little insurance is a good idea to make sure you have access to support when you need it.

Support does not mean only ‘break/fix’ so you can keep on working. There are many ways that the right support can benefit your business:

  • Supporting your system to optimize your usage. You have those systems for a reason. If they are performing at peak levels, you’re golden. If not, you’re not getting what you paid for. Sometimes optimizing your usage simply means keeping up with automatic updates. Other times it means having a review completed and updates manually installed. In the latter case, support can help ensure that you are up-to-date and that all connected systems are running at full capacity.

  • Maturity of implementation is another thing to consider when it comes to support. The right type and level of support you require will depend largely on how long you have been using your system. You may not think that a system that has been in place for several years would require any support at all compared to a new installation where the users are still trying to figure it all out. In fact, because companies stop putting a priority on their systems once they are running they fail to take full advantage of new functionality and business process improvements available. ‘If it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ can be costly to your efficiency.

Whatever your support requirements, you need it to be fast, accessible and reliable. Your organization likely can’t wait a week to have issues resolved or updates completed. You also want to make sure that the technicians you are relying on are experienced – both with the software, and also with your specific industry to be sure your needs are understood and addressed.
