We’ve all heard the old sayings: “Like a fine wine, it gets better with age” and “You’re not getting older, you’re getting better.” Maybe there’s something to be said for that. It’s definitely the case with regard to Microsoft Dynamics GP.
Dynamics 1.0, the initial release from Great Plains Software, originally came to market in February 1993 as one of the first accounting/ERP packages designed specifically for use on the Windows platform. It quickly became the ultimate financial software for corporations looking to update their process.
Fast forward in time and we sure have come a long way! 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of that initial Dynamics 1.0 release. While the software retains its prime position as a leader in financial software, it has certainly seen huge changes over the years, including things like the move to the SQL back-end, its integration capabilities, as well as its current web and cloud capabilities.
GP 2018 is expected to release in December of 2017. And while the release schedule for upcoming versions is being cut back from twice a year to a single release per year, the current roadmap for Dynamics GP sees at least two GP “Next” releases in the second half of both 2018 and 2019.
The roadmap below was presented by Microsoft to the GP Tech Conference in Fargo this past August.
In the meantime, TGO is here to help you master Dynamics GP, no matter the version you’re currently running. We can also help you upgrade when the time comes. For more information, please get in touch today by calling 905-470-6830.
